The Ferndale, Squalicum, Mount Baker and Nooksack Valley football team all moved up in the latest edition of the Associated Press Prep Football Poll released Wednesday, while Lummi lost its grip on the No. 1 spot in the Class 1B poll despite not taking the field.

The Blackhawks dropped one spot to No. 2 in the 1B state rankings in favor of Odessa, even though Lummi received more first-place votes (four vs. three) from a statewide panel of sports writers and editors. Lummi opened the season ranked No. 1, but had Seattle Lutheran forfeit their Week 1 matchup. The Blackhawks will host No. 5 Neah Bay Friday.

The Golden Eagles, who beat Vancouver (B.C.) College 49-12 Friday, jumped three spots to No. 4 in the Class 3A rankings behind No. 1 Eastside Catholic. Squalicum also jumped three spots to No. 6 in the 3A ranks after beating Gig Harbor 31-15 Friday. The Golden Eagles will host Lynden in Whatcom County’s biggest football rivalry Friday, while the Storm will host South Delta (B.C.).

In Class 1A, Mount Baker moved up one spot to No. 3, Nooksack Valley moved up one to No. 9 and Meridian dropped two to No. 10. The Mountaineers, which beat Roosevelt 49-13 Friday, will travel to face Clarence Fulton (B.C.) Friday. The Pioneers beat Blaine 45-6 last week and will travel to Granite Falls Friday, while Meridian beat Anacortes 20-14 Friday and will host Blaine this week. Royal remained atop the 1A rankings.

In Class 2A, Lynden remained ranked No. 2 behind unanimous No. 1 Archbishop Murphy, but Tumwater moved into a second-place tie with the Lions. NWC foes Burlington-Edison and Sedro-Woolley checked in at Nos. 5 and 7, respectively.

Camas (4A) and Napavine remained No. 1 in their respective classifications.
