Whatcom Roundup: New pizza place planned, and an update on NW WA Fair concerts

Here’s our weekly roundup of the latest retail and restaurant activity around Whatcom County:

New pizza restaurant proposed

A new pizza restaurant may be coming to Bellingham, as Can Am Pizza, a pizza chain restaurant with locations in Washington and Texas, has filed a building permit application for a new oven. The permit is for 1251 Lincoln St. Suite 106, the current location of Pizza Hut. The application was filed Feb. 25 and had not been approved as of Feb. 27.

Bellingham restaurant listed for sale

Supon’s Thai Kitchen near Western Washington University was listed for sale as a turn key business opportunity.

The restaurant is regularly open from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 111 N Samish Way in Bellingham.

NW WA Fair concert announcements

The Northwest Washington Fair may still be months away, but tickets are already on sale for the first concerts of its Grandstand Entertainment series.

The annual fair includes carnival rides, exhibits, games, food and a series of live entertainment at the Grandstand Arena from Aug. 13-22 at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds.

Fair officials made their first concert announcement of the season last month, when they revealed that Stone Temple Pilots will perform. Earlier this week, they announced its second concert, Grammy-winning Christian singer TobyMac.

Tickets for both concerts can be purchased online at www.nwwafair.com, by phone at 360-354-4111, or in person at the fair office on the fairgrounds at 1775 Front St. in Lynden.
