January Bellingham events: Keg curling, ice skating, Fire & Story fest and more

Looking for fun events to do in January? Here is your monthly roundup of key Bellingham events, festivals, trivia nights and live music this month.

Bellingham events

  • New Year’s Day Family Ice Skate will run from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 1 at the Bellingham Sportsplex. Admission costs $10 and includes an ice skate rental and hot cocoa. Tickets can be purchased online in advance. The Bellingham Sportsplex is at 1225 Civic Field Way.
  • The Bellingham Dockside Market features fresh fish from local fishermen and a variety of vendors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3 and Saturday, Jan. 17 at Squalicum Harbor, 2599 S. Harbor Loop Drive.
  • Keg Curling, a fundraiser for the Bellingham United Soccer Team, will run from 6 to 11 p.m. Jan. 9. The 21-and-over event will include multiple teams of keg curlers and a beer garden for spectators. Teams can register to participate for $80. The event will be at the Bellingham Sportsplex, at 1225 Civic Field Way.
  • Fire & Story, the third annual festival at Bellingham’s Waterfront featuring storytelling, fires, live music, performers, food trucks and a kid zone from Jan. 22-24. Tickets for the three-day festival can be purchased online or at the gates for $60 per person. Single-night tickets will also be available at the gate for $40 per person. The festival also features a beer garden and private saunas and lounge areas that can be reserved online. The Fire & Story festival is at Bellingham’s Waterfront at 1145 Granary Ave.
  • The Friends of the Bellingham Public Library Book Sale will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Central Library. A large selection of books, DVDs and other products will be for sale, and all proceeds will go to the library. The Central Library is at 210 Central Ave.

Live music in Bellingham

The Shakedown is at 1212 N State St.Wild Buffalo House of Music, a live music and event venue, regularly hosts live music from a variety of bands and performers. Tickets are available online in advance. Wild Buffalo House of Music is at 208 W. Holly St.
  • Bar Two Eleven, a bar and music venue, regularly hosts live music and concerts. Tickets are available online in advance. Bar Two Eleven is at 211 E Chestnut St.
  • Admiralty Lounge, a restaurant and lounge, regularly has live music from a variety of musicians from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays. Admiralty Lounge is at 100 N. Commercial St.
