Whatcom Roundup: New restaurant; downtown comeback; Father’s Day events
Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail and restaurant activity around Whatcom County:
New Bellingham restaurant opens
New Mexican restaurant Alba’s Cocina opened recently in the previous location of Gandolfo’s New York Deli at 107 E Stuart Road near Walmart. The new restaurant announced the opening in a June 11 social media post.
The new restaurant with a Latin twist serves burritos, tacos, birria, fresh juices, enchiladas and more from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Bayou on Bay reopening soon
Bayou on Bay, the popular downtown restaurant that closed back in March, is scheduled to reopen soon thanks to new owners who are reviving the popular Cajun restaurant.
The restaurant is currently hiring and accepting applications for many positions in order to reopen, including servers, cooks and bartenders, according to a social media post.
No official reopening date has been announced. Bayou on Bay is at 1300 Bay St. in downtown Bellingham.
New Birch Bay breakfast restaurant
Birch Bay is getting a new “epic” breakfast restaurant that will have its grand opening at noon Saturday, June 14.
D’oldhams Epic Café, a classic breakfast restaurant, will serve eggs Benedict with house crumpets, biscuits and gravy, omelettes, waffles and more.
The new restaurant will regularly be open from 6 a.m. to noon Wednesday through Sunday at 4580 Legion Dr. in Blaine, the previous location of GOAT Sandwiches.
