New nightclub making progress to open

Hut, a new nightclub and venue, is making progress toward opening this summer, according to the club’s Facebook profile.

The new club will be at 1115 Railroad Ave. in Bellingham.

Coffee stand rebrand in Bellingham

Drift Coffee, formerly known as Giddy Up Espresso, is now under new ownership and has rebranded.

The espresso stand is open regularly from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at 1321 W Bakerview Rd. in Bellingham.

Forever 21 closing this weekend

Forever 21 is closing its Bellis Fair location Sunday, April 27, according to signage at the store. The store is currently offering liquidation discounts on clothing and furniture.

The closure came after the company filed for bankruptcy again in March and announced that all stores across the country would be closing.

Bellingham’s Forever 21 is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at 1 Bellis Fair Parkway, inside Bellis Fair mall near the food court.

MOTO Pizza starting construction next month

MOTO Pizza, a new restaurant that is taking over the current location of one of Bellingham’s Taco Time locations, is planning to start construction following Taco Time’s closure on May 5.

The new restaurant is planned to open in the second half of 2025, according to previous reporting by The Bellingham Herald.

MOTO Pizza will be at 4373 Meridian St. in Bellingham.

Chuckanut Drive businesses open

A rockslide blocked Chuckanut Drive earlier this week, covering both lanes just south of the Skagit County border, near Blanchard Road. The site had yet to be cleared as of Thursday afternoon.

Guy Colbert, owner of The Oyster Bar on Chuckanut Drive, told The Herald in an email Wednesday that his business remains open, and that The Oytster Bar, Taylor Shellfish and Larrabee State Park can still be reached from the north. Chuckanut Manor is accessible from the south.
