Whatcom Roundup: New restaurant in Lynden; Chick-Fil-A opening date set

New Lynden restaurant planned
A new restaurant is planned for Lynden, as owners of the Rustic Bar & Grill have filed for a liquor license at 8155 Guide Meridian Rd. The restaurant and bar is planned to open in May, according to its website, and will serve craft cocktails, baked lobster dip, fire-dusted calamari, beef brisket mac and cheese, burgers, prime rib, seafood scampi and rose cavatappi. No official opening date has been announced.
Chick-Fil-A opening
Bellingham’s Chick-Fil-A is officially opening next week.
The new restaurant will have its grand opening at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, April 30. Guests who wear any cow-themed attire will be given a free entrée or kids meal during the grand opening.
Chick-Fil-A will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with drive-through service only from 9 to 10 p.m. at 4030 Cordata Pkwy.
Unemployment rate shows slight decline
The latest data update from the Washington State Employment Security Department shows Whatcom County’s unemployment rate increased slightly from January to February. The county had a 5.1% unemployment rate with 5,882 unemployed people in February, an increase of 0.1% and 213 people compared to January.
