Whatcom Roundup: New downtown bar; Bellis Fair Santa returns; gallery closing
Downtown Bellingham bar opening Nov. 21
The Den, a new bar in downtown Bellingham, will have a soft opening Friday, Nov. 21, according to a Facebook post from one of its owners, Craig Jewell.
The Den was launched by the owners of Wild Buffalo House of Music with a vision to create “Bellingham’s living room” space.
“The bar is named and themed after my favorite room at my grandparent’s house. The Den was a place to come together, to eat snacks, and reconnect with friends and family before and after dinner,” Jewell wrote on Nov. 17.
The Den will be open from 4 p.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
Santa arrives at Bellis Fair
Santa Claus is arriving at Bellis Fair mall at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21. Guests of all ages are invited to a Christmas parade to welcome Santa, and the first 140 kids will recieve jingle bells and noise makers for the parade.
The parade will be at the mall’s food court entrance.
Bellis Fair mall is at 1 Bellis Fair Parkway in Bellingham.
Gallery West closing permanently
Gallery West, an art gallery and shop in Bellingham’s historic Fairhaven neighborhood, is closing permanently after 52 years of business.
The business is closing as its owner, Dave Lucas, plans to retire, Lucas told The Herald on Nov. 20. No official closing date has been set, but Lucas plans to close the shop by the end of the year..
Gallery West is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at 1300 12th St. in Bellingham.
