Whatcom Roundup: Zeek’s opens at The Portal; new downtown bar; cafe coming to Granary

Zeeks Pizza opens at The Portal
The Portal Container Village has added a new restaurant to its summer lineup. Zeek’s Pizza, with locations across Washington and Idaho, will open its new location at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, according to an Instagram post by the Port of Bellingham.
The Portal and Zeek’s Pizza is at 298 W Laurel St. in Bellingham.
New restaurant coming to Granary Building
A new cafe named Tzortzatos has filed a permit through the city of Bellingham for a cafe at 1211 Granary Ave. Suite 132, inside the Granary building. The permit was filed June 6 and had not been approved as of June 7.
New bar update
The owners of Starla’s Tavern, a natural wine, beer and snack bar, filed a permit back in April for a new bar at 1149 N State St. in Bellingham. No opening date has been announced, but the business posted a new logo on Instagram on Saturday, June 8, promising to open this summer.
Carnal announces happy hour menu
Carnal, a live-fire cooking restaurant in downtown Bellingham, has now added a happy hour menu to its lineup. The happy hour menu launched Monday, June 10 and features discounted cocktails, wine and beer, as well as wings, housemade brioche, salad and housemade stracciatella cheese.
Carnal is at 1234 N State St.
