Whatcom Roundup: MOTO Pizza opening nears; new Bellingham bar in the works

Possible new bar opening in Bellingham
A liquor license application has been filed for 416 W Bakerview Road — the location of Fireside Martini and Wine Bar — under the name “MJ’s Martinis”.
The application for a lounge and bar was filed Aug. 20 and had not been approved as of Aug. 28.
Owners of Fireside Martini and Wine Bar could not be reached for a comment on an official closing, and the bar’s website has also been deleted.
MOTO Pizza teases opening
MOTO Pizza, a long-awaited new pizza restaurant coming to Bellingham, is almost set to open, according to an Instagram post.
“Bellingham is SOOO CLOSE !First training day in the books! OPENING DAY ANNOUNCEMENT SOON,” an Aug. 27 Instagram post states.
MOTO Pizza will be at 4373 Meridian St., the previous location of Taco Time.
Local restaurants listed for sale
A few local eateries in Bellingham are currently listed for sale, either offering buyers the chance to continue a restaurant’s legacy or just use the building and materials to create a new concept.
In Ferndale, Barb’s Pies and Pastries is also for sale by its owner, Barb O’Brine, who is planning to retire. The popular bakery has no closing date.
