Two new restaurants opened in Whatcom County last month, as two closed permanently

Looking for a new restaurant to try out? Whatcom County had two new restaurants open throughout February, as two closed permanently.

Catch

Catch, a Hawaiian style Poke restaurant from the creators of Just Poke, opened Feb. 18 inside Bellingham’s Walmart.

The restaurant’s menu includes sushi rolls, raw and cooked protein options, poke bowls, ahi nachos and more.

Catch is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Bellingham’s Walmart is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily at 4420 Meridian St.

Wendy’s

The Lummi Nation has added Wendy’s, the chain fast-food restaurant, to its Salish Village retail property, according to a news release from Lummi Commercial Company. The new restaurant opened Friday, Feb. 7.

The restaurant is open from 6:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily at 1399 Slater Road on the Lummi Nation property at Salish Village.

Narrative Coffee

Narrative Coffee, an Everett-based coffee company and from-scratch kitchen, is closing its Bellingham location that opened in 2022. The coffee shop closed Feb. 22, the location’s three-year anniversary.

“Industry wide, the last handful of years have been tough times for businesses like ours. Our cafe in Bellingham is a small, neighborhood spot (which we love), but simply put it has not been able to garner enough support to make keeping the doors open up north sustainable for us,” a social media post from the business states.

Narrative Coffee was at 1400 W. Holly St. in Bellingham.

Jack in the Box

Lynden’s Jack in the Box fast food restaurant has closed, according to Jack in the Box’s website.

The restaurant, which closed Feb. 17, was located at 8083 Guide Meridian Road.

Jack in the Box has open locations in Bellingham, Ferndale and Blaine.
