Jade Ming is just two shots off the lead after day one of the Class 2A State Championships on Tuesday, May 24, at Columbia Point Golf Course in Richland.
Ming posted a 79 and trails Ephrata’s Kenedee Peters (77) and Morgan Baum (78) of East Valley heading into the second day of state. Ming said her goal was just to have fun but that her swing was consistent.
“I just trusted my shots,” Ming said. “I think my swing is solid by myself.”
Coach Scott Sahagian said its been a pleasure watching Ming play.

“I just stay out of the way because she’s got an amazing swing,” Sahagian said. “I tell her ‘just keep doing what you’re doing.’”
Ming said winning a state title would be a realization that all the time she put in was worth it.
Bellingham’s Alex Ferrier (85) and Emma Lochridge (99) were under the cutline of 99.
Squalicum’s Christina Kim (96) also played well enough to advance to the next day.
