A burglar broke into the Firehouse Arts and Events Center at 1314 Harris Ave. in Bellingham’s Fairhaven neighborhood over the weekend, according to a social media post Sunday afternoon from the business’ owners.

Owners reported that $500 was stolen and about $9,000 in damage was done, according to the post.

The break-in comes on the heels of a string of burglaries at local businesses late last year, including several in Fairhaven.

Burglaries were reported at Sandwich Odyssey, Soy House, Wellman and Zuck General Contractors office and a Dank of America cannabis store from Dec. 20-23. There also was an attempted burglary reported at Stones Throw Brewery, including damage to the door.

Police arrested a suspect in the Soy House burglary. Authorities said at the time that they had yet to establish any connection between the burglaries.
