Two Fairhaven businesses reported a break-in and burglary early Saturday morning, and authorities are uncertain whether the two incidents are related.

The two businesses — Serendipity and an office at Fairhaven Runners — are housed in the same building at 1201 11th St.

Someone used a pry tool of some sort to break open the door at Serendipity around 4 a.m., stealing around $1,000 in goods, according to a social media post by owners of neighboring store Bloomhaven Bottle Shop. According to Megan Peters with the Bellingham Police Department, the stolen goods included a cash register and jewelry.

The office at Fairhaven Runners was burglarized later the same morning. Someone stole shoes and rummaged through the office, according to Peters.
