Whatcom Roundup: New Bellis Fair eatery; Lynden addition; Bellingham comedy fest
Here’s our weekly roundup of the latest retail and restaurant activity around Whatcom County:
New Bellis Fair mall restaurant
Bellis Fair mall will soon welcome a new restaurant to its food court, serving rotisserie roasted meats and more.
The new tenant, Kebabji, does not have an official opening date soon, but is making progress toward its retail space, according to a recent Bellis Fair mall social media post.
The restaurant is expected to open October or November, according to David Prince, the mall’s general manager.
“We did just sign an agreement with a new food business going in where Fresh Grill used to be. We are doing some work in the back before they take over, and then they will have to go through the Health Department’s processes, so they won’t be open for a few months yet but they have signed. Their name is Kebabji, and they will be doing Kebabs, Shwarma, Falafel, pitas, etc. Should be very good,” Prince told The Herald in July.
The Bellis Fair mall is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at 1 Bellis Fair Parkway.
New Lynden restaurant opening soon
A new restaurant called Ginger The Indian Cuisine is planned to open at 8874 Bender Road in Lynden.
Owners have not announced an official opening date, but it is expected to open in late October or early November, Bellingham Metro News reported on an Oct. 8 Facebook post.
Ginger The Indian Cuisine’s Instagram page also teased the opening back in September.
Bellingham’s first annual comedy festival
The Laughing Hamster Comedy Festival, Bellingham’s first annual comedy festival, is debuting next week from Oct. 13-18.
The festival will feature six nights of stand-up comedy shows across Bellingham venues like The Blue Room, The Upfront Theatre, Larrabee Lager Co., Uisce Irish Pub and Rumors Caberet.
