Whatcom Roundup: New downtown bar; Chick-fil-A approved; NW WA Fair returns
Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail and restaurant activity around Whatcom County:
Chick-fil-A plans approved
The city of Bellingham has approved and issued building permits for Bellingham’s new Chick-fil-A restaurant. The permit was issued Aug. 5, with an estimated cost of $1,016,359.08, and the restaurant will include a 4,989 square-foot building, dual drive-through and overhead canopies, as well as a trash enclosure.
Now that permits have been issued, Chick-fil-A can begin construction on the new restaurant. Chick-fil-A will be at 4030 Cordata Parkway.
New Bellingham bar opens
Elk St. Tavern, a new bar in downtown Bellingham created by the owners of Redlight, opened Wednesday, Aug. 6, according to an Instagram post.
The bar’s menu includes a variety of drinks, as well as burgers, carpaccio, oysters, steak and desserts.
Elk St. Tavern is open from 4 to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Monday at 1017 N. State St. in Bellingham.
Northwest Washington Fair returns
The Northwest Washington Fair has returned to Lynden and will run from Aug. 7-16, but there may be a few things you need to know before visiting this year.
