Whatcom Roundup: Bellingham restaurant closes; national chains moving in
Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail and restaurant activity around Whatcom County:
Proposed new Old Navy location
Old Navy has filed a building permit application for a new location at 4253 Meridian St., inside the Cordata Shopping Center. The permit was filed June 17. Old Navy is currently located inside the Bellis Fair mall at 1 Bellis Fair Parkway in Bellingham. The application had not been approved as of July 4.
China Palace closes permanently
China Palace, a Chinese restaurant near Walmart, permanently closed Sunday, July 6.
The restaurant’s owner has decided to retire after being in business for over 40 years, the owner told The Herald.
China Palace was located at 4444 Meridian St. in Bellingham.
New chiropractic option
New chiropractic office Desert Pines Chiropractic is now open at 1263 Barkley Blvd., suite 103. A building permit application for the project was approved June 20.
Interested patients can contact the office online or by calling 360-320-6322 to make an appointment. The office is open from 10 a.m. to noon and 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; and 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Rite Aid transitions into CVS Pharmacy
A building permit was filed by CVS Pharmacy to rebrand the previous location of Rite Aid pharmacy at 220 36th St. in Bellingham. The project permit request was filed July 1, though it had not been approved as of July 4.
CVS is also planning to take over Rite Aid locations in Ferndale, Lynden and Blaine, and is currently having prescriptions from Rite Aid’s 3227 Northwest Ave. location forwarded to its Bellis Fair mall location inside Target at 30 Bellis Fair Parkway, according to previous reporting by The Herald.
