Bellingham’s July events: Fireworks, Punk Fest, farmers markets, and more

July has begun, and here is your monthly roundup of key Bellingham events, festivals, trivia nights and live music this month. For a complete list of Whatcom County events, visit bellinghamherald.com/events.

Bellingham events

The Hotel Bellwether is hosting a Fourth of July Blues, Brews & BBQ event featuring fireworks and concerts by Chris Eger Band and The Powerhouse Horns. Tickets cost $75 and include admission and a barbecue dinner. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., followed by music at 7 p.m. and a fireworks show at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4. The Hotel Bellwether is at 1 Bellwether Way.

Bellis Fair mall is hosting a hot dog cook-off challenge at 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 4. Guests are welcome to come judge the event as the mall’s food court restaurants compete to make the best hot dogs with a variety of toppings. Tasting tickets are available by donation. Bellis Fair mall is at 1 Bellis Fair Parkway in Bellingham.

The Fairhaven Chicken Festival is returning to Bellingham from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 5. The free festival will include a chicken costume contest, live music and entertainment, carnival games and food. The annual festival will be at the Fairhaven Village Green at 1207 10th St.

The Bellingham Farmers Market is back to its regular weekly schedule for the summer. The farmers market features over 100 vendors and is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at Depot Market Square at 1100 Railroad Ave. in Bellingham. The market runs every Saturday through Dec. 20.

The Bellingham Dockside Market features fresh fish from local fishermen and a variety of vendors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5 and Saturday, July 19 at Squalicum Harbor 2599 S. Harbor Loop Drive.

Summer Play Days on the Barkley Plaza, a free weekly “outdoor play event for children and their caregivers,” will run from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays at the Barkley Village Plaza next to Woods Coffee in Barkley Village. The weekly event runs each Wednesday through Aug. 27 at 2900 Woburn St.

Barkley Market, a farmers market and food truck event, will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays July 10 through Aug. 28. The free event is at the Barkley Village Green 2215 Rimland Drive.

The Bellis Fair mall is hosting a motor show in collaboration with Clean Cut Futures. The free event is open to the public and will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13. Those wishing to participate can enter their motor vehicle with a $20 registration fee. Bellis Fair mall is at 1 Bellis Fair Parkway.

The NW Tune Up Festival, a bike, beer and live music festival is returning to Bellingham’s waterfront from July 11-13. The festival includes a line up of bands and performers, mountain bike competitions and workshops, food trucks, beer on tap from local breweries and more. Tickets are on sale for the weekend and range in price from $48 to $293 per person, depending on age and number of admission days. The NW Tune Up Festival is at 1100 Granary Ave. Visit the festival site to learn more about volunteer opportunities.

The Bellis Fair mall is hosting a Local Crafter’s Market from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 19 and Aug. 16. The free market will include more than 30 vendors and will be inside the mall at 1 Bellis Fair Parkway.

The Sunnyland Stomp, a free annual festival throughout the Sunnyland neighborhood, will run from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 19. The event will include chicken races, a chicken dance party, live music, art and games. For a map of participating business and stops, visit the event’s website.

Squalicum Harbor Block Party, a free event for all ages, runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 23. The event includes free hot dogs and refreshments, games, music and a sale at the LFS Marine & Outdoor shop. The event is at LFS Marine & Outdoor at 851 Coho Way.

Fourth Corner Punk Fest 2025, “Bellingham’s First and Only Festival For and By Punks of All Ages,” features live music, Aslan Brewing beer garden, games, flash tattoos, hair coloring and mohawks, giveaways and more. Tickets cost $45 per person online, and $23 for children ages 10 and under. The event is at Evil Bikes at 700 Harris Ave.

Live music in Bellingham

Stone’s Throw Brewery has free live music for all ages from 6 to 8 p.m. throughout the month. For the lineup of artists, check the brewery’s website or Facebook page. Stone’s Throw Brewery is at 1009 Larrabee Ave.

The Aslan Brewing Co. Depot welcomes local artists throughout the month. For the music lineup, check the schedule online. Aslan Brewing Co. Depot is at 1322 N. State St.

Kulshan Brewing Company’s various breweries are hosting live music all month. For the music lineup and locations, check the schedule online.

The Blue Room, a live music and event venue, regularly hosts live performers and performances, including jazz nights, local artists, and improv nights. Tickets are available online in advance. The Blue Room is at 202 E. Holly St.

The Shakedown, a live music venue and bar, regularly hosts live music and performers. Tickets are available online in advance. The Shakedown is at 1212 N State St.

Wild Buffalo House of Music, a live music and event venue, regularly hosts live music from a variety of bands and performers. Tickets are available online in advance. Wild Buffalo House of Music is at 208 W. Holly St.

Bar Two Eleven, a bar and music venue, regularly hosts live music and concerts. Tickets are available online in advance. Bar Two Eleven is at 211 E Chestnut St.
