Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail and restaurant activity around Whatcom County:

New retail store planned for Fairhaven

A new retail store, Outdoor Research, has filed a building permit application with the city of Bellingham at 1501 12th St., the previous location of Pizza’zza in Fairhaven. The permit application was approved April 30.

Bellingham Chick-Fil-A update

Bellingham’s Chick-Fil-A is slowly making progress toward starting construction, according to The city of Bellingham.

“The building permit and public works permits are currently under review, and we expect to have our reviews complete within a couple of weeks, with a target date of May 6,” Blake Lyon, Bellingham’s director of planning and community development, told The Herald.

The new restaurant is proposed at 4030 Cordata Parkway, and once permits are approved, construction can begin.

Skagit Valley tulip season extended

You now have one more chance to see the Skagit Valley tulips while they are blooming, as multiple farms will remain open for an extra weekend.

Three of the five farms that participate in the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival will be open through May 4, although the official festival ended April 30.
