Bellingham’s May events: Memorial Day festivities, wine walks, music and more

Bellingham events
▪ The Bellingham Farmers Market is back to its regular weekly schedule for the summer. The farmers market features over 100 vendors and is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at Depot Market Square at 1100 Railroad Ave. in Bellingham. The market runs every Saturday through Dec. 20.
▪ Open Roller Skate is back at The Depot from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 2. The monthly free event is open to all ages. Participants must bring their own skates, knee pads and other skating accessories. Open Roller Skate is at Depot Market Square, 1100 Railroad Ave.
▪ The Bellingham Dockside Market features fresh fish from local fishermen and a variety of vendors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 and May 17 at Squalicum Harbor 2599 S. Harbor Loop Dr.
▪ The 24th Annual Children’s Art Walk is returning to Bellingham from May 2-16. Over 50 downtown businesses and Allied Arts of Whatcom County at 1213 Cornwall Ave. will display children’s artwork.
▪ The 6th Annual Trashion Show, put on by Habitat for Humanity in Whatcom County and the Bellingham Circus Guild, returns from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 3. The ticketed event will showcase outfits created out of trash and recycled materials, as well as raffles, themed cocktails and snacks. All proceeds will support affordable housing in Whatcom County. Tickets cost $25 per person and can be purchased online in advance. The event is at Bellingham Circus Guild at 1401 Sixth St. #102.
▪The Procession of the Species 2025, a family-friendly parade celebrating nature and wildlife, will run from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 3. The free event encourages costumes, and will parade from Lee Memorial Park to Maritime Heritage Park, where the event will end with live entertainment and activities. Participants are encouraged to register online in advance.
▪ The Sunnyland Sip + Stroll Art Walk, a free brewery and art walk throughout Bellingham’s Sunnyland neighborhood, runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 9. Participants can pick up a Sip + Stroll Passport at participating businesses, visit neighborhood breweries and shops to collect stamps, and turn in a completed passport for raffle prizes like gift cards, artwork and other prizes. Participating businesses include Stemma Brewing West, Hela Provisions, Martini Metal Craft, Otherlands Beer and more.
▪ The Spring Wine Walk in downtown Bellingham is returning Friday, May 9. Tickets cost $40 to $65 per person and include tasting tickets, a wine glass and tote bag, plus an additional dinner at Red Star Taco for VIP ticketholders. Tickets are available online in advance.
▪ The annual Barkley Village Wine Walk 2025 returns from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 15. Tickets cost $45 per person and include eight wine tasting tickets, a goodie bag, a wine glass and a charcuterie cup. All proceeds go to Lydia Place, a local nonprofit seeking to end homelessness.
▪ The Whatcom Memorial Day Parade runs from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 24 in downtown Bellingham. “The parade is a favorite community tradition in downtown Bellingham, WA where we come together to remember our fallen heroes honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces. You can expect an enthusiastic afternoon of local police, fire fighters, old cars, dancers, theatrics, marching bands, retired military members and so much more,” according to the event’s website. The route will begin at the corner of Alabama and Cornwall and continues south down Cornwall St.
▪ Stones Throw Brewery is hosting a Memorial Weekend Block Party from noon to 9 p.m. May 24-25. The event is open for all ages and will feature live music, local food trucks and beer. Stones Throw Brewery is at 1009 Larrabee Ave.

▪ The Blue Room, a live music and event venue, regularly hosts live performers and performances, including jazz nights, local artists, and improv nights. Tickets are available online in advance. The Blue Room is at 202 E. Holly St.
▪ The Shakedown, a live music venue and bar, regularly hosts live music and performers. Tickets are available online in advance. The Shakedown is at 1212 N State St.
▪ Wild Buffalo House of Music, a live music and event venue, regularly hosts live music from a variety of bands and performers. Tickets are available online in advance. Wild Buffalo House of Music is at 208 W. Holly St.
