Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail and restaurant activity around Whatcom County:

Dutch Bros proposed in Bellingham

Dutch Bros, a popular coffee stand chain known for its unique drinks and friendly staff, has filed a project application for a Bellingham location.

The coffee stand is planned for 451 W Bakerview Road, near Bellis Fair mall and the proposed Chick-Fil-A restaurant. The application was filed Feb. 27 and was under review as of March 6, according to eTRAKiT, the city’s permit tracking system.

This would be Whatcom County’s first and only Dutch Bros location, and the most northern location in Washington state and the country. The closest Dutch Bros to Whatcom County is in Marysville.

New downtown Bellingham restaurant

A new restaurant is opening in downtown Bellingham in K-Pop Chicken and Beer’s previous restaurant space. It’s called SOHO Asian Kitchen & Bar. The restaurant has an opening countdown on its website teasing an April 1 opening date, and a few menu items listed such as pad thai, kimchi soup and spring rolls.

The new restaurant will be at 202 W Holly St., Suite 101 in downtown Bellingham.

New wellness studio opens

Restore Hyper Wellness, a wellness studio offering services such as red light therapy, cryotherapy, IV drip therapy, infrared saunas and facials, has opened in Bellingham.

The new studio is hosting a grand opening celebration March 6-9 at 2411 James St., near Trader Joe’s. The studio is open regularly from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
