Even the best of trick-or-treating plans can be ruined by bad weather. This year, Halloween comes on the heels of a rainy weekend in Bellingham. But Whatcom County trick-or-treaters could be in luck. Here’s what’s in store for the weather on Thursday, Oct. 31.

Will it rain in Bellingham on Halloween?

While a midweek storm is in the forecast, it is expected to die down just in time for Halloween. According to the National Weather Service, there’s a 90% chance of rain during the day on Wednesday, Oct. 30, and a 100% chance that night, with strong winds expected as well.

By the morning of Thursday, Oct. 31., the chance of rain drops to 60% and the bulk of that is expected before 11:00 a.m. There’s still a chance that Halloween festivities will be impacted by the weather, though. Bellingham will see a 40% chance of rain on Thursday night, according to the NWS.

The University of Washington Department of Atmospheric Sciences forecast has a similar outlook. It predicts that western Whatcom County will likely see rain Thursday morning, and there’s a “chance of rain” in the night.

How cold will the weather be?

Even if it doesn’t rain, you might want to wear layers. According to NWS, Thursday’s temperature will peak at 55 degrees and stay in the low 50s through 6:00 p.m. By 7:00 p.m., the temperature is expected to reach 49 degrees, with a wind chill of 47, before dropping to 45 degrees with a wind chill of 42 by 10:00 p.m. The predicted low temperature for the night is 40 degrees.

As for Halloween weekend, NWS says there is a chance of showers the following three days, with the likelihood peaking at 41% on Friday night. High temperatures are expected to be in the low-to-mid 50s with lows just above 40.
