Don’t miss these Whatcom County Halloween events

It’s Halloween Week. Is your costume ready? Here are some events this week in Whatcom County where you can show it off.

Trick-or-treating events

Downtown Bellingham Trick-or-Treat runs from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. The free event is open for all ages, and costumes are encouraged as participants collect treats from over 100 participating businesses.

Welcome to “FEAR”Haven - Village Trick-or-Treat in Fairhaven runs from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. The free event includes trick-or-treating at participating businesses and a free photo booth. The event is at the Fairhaven Village Green at 1207 10th St. in Bellingham.

The second annual Cordata Trick-or-Treat runs from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. The free trick-or-treat event begins at Christ the King Church at 4151 Meridian St. and ends at Larrabee Lager. The event is open to all ages and includes more than 20 candy stops, a photo booth and hot chocolate.

Halloween parties (All Oct. 31)

The Dead Will Rise, a 21-and-over Halloween party and concert at Boundary Bay Brewery, begins at 8:30 p.m. The concert features The Sleepy Alligators, a Grateful Dead cover band. Tickets can be purchased online in advance for $12, or $15 at the door. Doors open at 8 p.m. at 1107 Railroad Ave. in Bellingham.

Nightmare on State Street, a 21-and-over Halloween party at Aslan Depot, will include “spooky cocktails, our famous Jell-O shots,” a costume contest and live music by KraymerGDot. Doors open at 3 p.m., and music starts at 8 p.m. at 1322 N. State St. in Bellingham.

Trackside Halloween Party at Kulshan Trackside Beer Garden will include trick-or-treating, live music and DJs, and a “Thrillingham” dance performance. The free event starts at 4 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. at 298 West Laurel St. in Bellingham.

Other spooky events

The City of Frightdale, a Ferndale city-wide Halloween decorating contest, is back for another year. During the week of Halloween Ferndale residents can vote for participating homes to declare “Ferndale’s most frightening home,” according to a news release. Those wishing to participate in the competition can enter before Oct. 24. Voting runs from Oct. 25 through Nov. 1, and the list of participating homes to visit will be on the city of Ferndale’s website.

Bellingham Ghost Tours, led by professional psychic Charles Crooks, takes participants on walking tours through downtown Bellingham and Fairhaven. The tours travel under a mile and cost $25 per person, and some tours are open to all ages. For the tour schedule and tickets, visit Bellingham Ghost Tours website.

Hellingham, an improv murder mystery show, will be performed at The Upfront Theatre throughout October. On Halloween, visitors can participate in a Halloween costume contest. The show is open to all ages and runs from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights through Nov. 2. Tickets are available online in advance. The Upfront Theatre is at 203 Prospect St. in Bellingham.
