Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail, business and restaurant activity in and around Whatcom County:

New public park proposed

A new public park, Northern Lights Park, has been proposed to the city of Bellingham for 4225 Traverse Drive, near Costco. The project filed multiple building permits to the city for park signs and construction with an estimated cost of $648,350. The permits were filed July 22 and had not been approved as of July 26.

Bellingham bowling alley for sale

Park Bowl and Splitz Grille, one of Bellingham’s two bowling alleys, was listed for sale online on Monday, July 29, but now the owners has spoken out about the real estate listing.

“Over the past three years we have been approached by buyers interested to buyout the business even though we did not have the property/business listed for sale. A commercial Realtor approached us and asked if we’d be interested in listing the property and as a family owned business for the past 70 years, the owners are aging out and believe this is the right time to offer it as a turn-key package for interested parties,” co-owner Kristin S Keyes-Halterman wrote in an email to The Bellingham Herald.

“It is the family’s intent to sell the property as a Bowling Arcade Family Center and to operate the business as normal and continue to be the family-centric entertainment/sport center,” Keye-Halterman wrote.
