Have you ever wanted to watch a movie under the stars on a roof top in downtown Bellingham? Thanks to Pickford Film Center, Bellingham’s independent movie cinema, you can this summer.

Pickford Film Center is hosting its popular free summer event, Rooftop Cinema, starting Friday, July 19.

“This year, we’re partying on the rooftop with Edgar Wright’s THE CORNETTO TRILOGY — a series of three films directed by Edgar Wright, starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost,” a Pickford Center news release states. “Sometimes called the ‘Blood and Ice Cream trilogy,’ these films are known for their unique blend of comedy, action and — for reasons still unexplained — scenes of characters eating Cornetto ice cream cones in each movie.”

The series begins Friday, July 19 with “Shaun of the Dead,” followed by “Hot Fuzz” on Friday, Aug. 2 and “The World’s End” on Friday, Aug. 16.

Each event will begin at 7 p.m. with a beer garden by Boundary Bay Brewery and live entertainment by World’s Best Trivia and a DJ, followed by the movies at dusk. A variety of vendors will also have food available for purchase at each event.

The event is open for all ages, but all movies have an MPAA rating. Dogs are also welcome as long as they are leashed.

The cinema provides 50 chairs available on a first-come, first-served basis, so bringing your own chairs is encouraged.

Free parking is available after 6 p.m. on floors 1-4 of the parking garage, and visitors can access the rooftop from an elevator or stairs.

The event will take place on the rooftop of the Parkade in downtown Bellingham at 1300 Commercial St.
