Bellingham Circus Guild kicks off Ferndale’s Food Truck Fridays series of food, entertainment
Less than a 20-minute drive from downtown Bellingham you’ll find a unique summer event full of food trucks and live music.
Food Truck Fridays, a free local event put on by the city of Ferndale, takes over the city’s historic Pioneer Park on certain Fridays throughout summer, bringing in local food trucks and entertainers.
The event is part of the city’s “Summer of Fun” event lineup, including movies and other live concerts in the park.
“When Summer of Fun first began, our Food Truck Fridays were an opportunity for the community to gather and have dinner in a local park. Over the last few years, we’ve began to incorporate some sort of entertainment to the event, making them similar to our Music in the Park events. Thanks to our presenting sponsor, WECU, these events are always free and open to the public,” Megan Juenemann, Ferndale’s communications and community relations officer wrote in an email to The Bellingham Herald.
The event’s food trucks and live music vary each event, but visitors can expect a wide variety of cuisines and entertainment.
“Food Trucks are lined up inside Pioneer Village at Pioneer Park near the stage for entertainment. There are picnic benches located around the park and in front of the stage, or attendees are welcome to find a comfortable spot on the grass or take their food with them for a stroll throughout the park or next door to Star Park for kids to play at the playground,” Juenemann wrote.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their families and friends, as well as blankets or camping chairs to sit on.
Food Truck Fridays will take place on July 12, July 19, Aug. 9 and Aug. 17, with these lineups of trucks and entertainment:
July 12
▪ Entertainment by Bellingham Circus Guild
July 19
▪ Live music by Baby Cakes
Aug. 9
▪ Live music by Jim Buk Tu
Aug. 17
▪ Live music by Lemon Creek
Food Truck Fridays start at 5:30 p.m. each night at Pioneer Park, 2004 Cherry St. in Ferndale.
