WWU police still working to identify body of man found on campus in March

Western Washington University police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man, whose body was found on campus in early March in a wooded area north of Buchanan Towers North Residence Hall.

On Monday, May 11, the school released a picture of the man, who was found the afternoon of March 5, from a surveillance camera taken at the Walgreens on Samish Way in Bellingham approximately two weeks earlier. The school had previously released a sketch of the man.

The man is described as Caucasian, in his 20s and approximately 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds.

The Whatcom County Medical Examiner has determined the man died by suicide, and the university does not believe he was a student at Western, according to Monday’s release. The man had no identification on him and his fingerprints have not turned up a match in police databases.

Anyone with information is asked to contact WWU Police Sgt. Ron Carpenter at 360-650-2308.
