Finding enough workers continues to be an issue for some businesses around Bellingham.

Starbucks announced that it has temporarily closed its Barkley Village location and is planning to reopen on Jan. 10. According to information the Barkley Company sent out in a newsletter, Starbucks is taking that time to hire and train staff for that location, which is near the Barkley Haggen grocery store.

Starbucks also recently closed its Iowa Street drive-through location. The company plans to reopen that cafe at 814 Iowa St. on Thursday, Nov. 4.

In a company statement, Starbucks said it is committed to providing a positive customer experience and investing in its stores, customers and the community.

Also experiencing some unexpected staffing issues was the CVS Pharmacy in the Target store at Bellis Fair.

According to Monica Prinzing, a senior communications consultant for the company’s western region, the pharmacy was closed Oct. 30-31, but was able to open on Monday, Nov. 1.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our patients,” Prinzing said in an email.
