Bellingham rental prices increased, but most Whatcom cities saw monthly decline

A recent survey of rental prices in Bellingham shows a increase in October prices so far compared to last month, although many Whatcom County cities had rental prices decrease.

The average price for Bellingham rentals of all bedrooms and all property types was $2,200 on Oct. 4, according to data from Zillow. That’s a $50 increase compared to September’s average price, and an increase of $200 compared to October 2024.

“The price range for all bedrooms and all property types is $691 to $11,000,” according to Zillow’s October data.

Bellingham’s average rental price is 8% higher than the national average in October, according to Zillow.

“A one-bedroom apartment in Bellingham, WA costs about $1,550 on average, while a 2-bedroom apartment is $1,825,” according to real estate data company Zumper. “Houses for rent in Bellingham, WA are more expensive, with an average monthly cost of $2,800.”

Beyond Bellingham

Zillow rent price data can also be compared by city. Here are Whatcom County’s average rent prices for Oct. 4:

  • Bellingham : $2,200, an increase compared to last month.
  • Lynden: $1,975, a decrease compared to last month.
  • Blaine: $2,200, a decrease compared to last month.
  • ​Ferndale: $2,400, an increase compared to last month.
  • Point Roberts: $2,100, the same average as last month.
  • ​Sumas: $1,650, a decrease compared to last month.
  • Everson: $2,150, an increase compared to last month.
  • ​Birch Bay: $2,045, a decrease compared to last month.
  • Deming: $1,313, a decrease compared to last month.
