A plant shop in Bellingham’s historic Fairhaven neighborhood is now for sale, and its owner hopes someone new will continue the blooming business. Nick Meza, owner of popular gift and plant shop babygreens, has listed the business for sale after opening in 2018 initially in downtown Bellingham, before moving to Fairhaven in 2022.

“I opened babygreens in 2018 with the simple idea of creating a beautiful, welcoming space centered around plants and thoughtful design,” Meza told The Herald. “I’ve always believed that indoor plants and intentional retail can bring a lot of calm and inspiration to people’s lives. That vision really resonated with the community, and it’s been amazing to watch it evolve into what it is today.”

“Like most small businesses, we definitely navigated our fair share of challenges — especially during COVID, when we had to pivot quickly and get creative with online sales and operations. Supply chain issues, staffing shifts, and the usual ups and downs of running a brick-and-mortar store also came into play. But through it all, the support from our customers was unwavering, which made all the difference,” Meza said.

Meza hopes to sell the business so that it can continue to grow. The sale will include the business brand, inventory, POS systems and the lease to the retail space on the corner of Harris Avenue and 10th Street.

“The shop is open, thriving, and continuing to run as usual while I go through the process of finding the right new owner to take the reins. I wanted to be intentional about passing babygreens on while it’s in such a strong position, with a great location, a loyal customer base, and a lot of growth potential still ahead,” Meza said. “Everything is set up for a smooth handoff. The new owner will be stepping into a turnkey operation with strong systems in place and the flexibility to grow it even further if they choose to.”

“The goal here really is to pass the torch to someone who’s excited to carry the shop forward — whether they’re a seasoned entrepreneur or someone who simply has a passion for plants, design, and community. I’ll be offering transition support to make sure they’re set up for success, and I’m genuinely excited to see where the next chapter leads,” Meza said.

Anyone interested in buying the business can contact Nick Meza at info@babygreens.co or 425-286-4412.

The babygreens shop is open from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily at 915 Harris Ave.
