Washington’s Joann stores previously spared from closure now shuttering as sale announced
National craft and fabric store chain Joann has officially been purchased, according to a company statement issued Sunday, Feb. 23, and “going-out-of-business sales at all store locations” are now set to begin — including at stores in Bellingham and Olympia.
Earlier this month, Joann announced its intent to close 21 stores in Washington , leaving nine stores open and operating, including the Olympia and Bellingham sites, according to previous reporting by The Herald. All remaining locations are now set to close permanently.
“JOANN leadership, our Board, advisors and legal partners made every possible effort to pursue a more favorable outcome that would keep the company in business. We are committed to working constructively with the winning bidder to ensure an orderly wind-down of operations that minimizes the impact on all our stakeholders. We deeply appreciate our dedicated Team Members, our customers and communities across the nation for their unwavering support for more than 80 years,” the company news release states.
Both the Bellingham store at 1125 E Sunset Drive, Suite 125 and the Olympia store at 2725 Harrison Ave. NW, Suite 500 are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Financial services company GA Group, along with Joann’s lenders, have acquired the retailer’s assets. Store closure dates will be announced over the company’s website and app, according to a FAQ posted by the company.
Customer gift cards are valid through Friday, Feb. 28, Joann noted. Fabrics and yarns, sewing supplies and machines, and home decor are already marked down on Joann’s website.
