Whatcom Roundup: New downtown eatery; Chick-Fil-A update; chain restaurant on Lummi land
Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail and restaurant activity around Whatcom County:
Wendy’s opens on Lummi Nation property
The Lummi Nation has added Wendy’s, the chain fast-food restaurant, to its Salish Village retail property, according to a news release from Lummi Commercial Company. The new restaurant opened Friday, Feb. 7 and will host a grand opening ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
The restaurant is open from 6:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily at 1399 Slater Road on the Lummi Nation property at Salish Village.
Earl’s Bike Shop temporarily closes
Earl’s Bike Shop will be temporarily closed during its annual shutdown from Feb. 11 through Feb. 24, according to a news release from the business.
“This annual break allows us to perform essential maintenance, take a bit of a break, and prepare for the upcoming year,” the news release states.
The shop will reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Earl’s Bike Shop is open regularly from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 2827 Meridian St. in Bellingham.
Bellingham Chick-Fil-A update
Chick-fil-A’s Bellingham location is making progress, according to a building permit application filed through the city of Bellingham.
The permit is for the new construction of the restaurant with an estimated value of $1,016,359.08, at 4030 Cordata Parkway. The permit application was filed Feb. 7 and had not been approved as of Feb. 8.
New restaurant in downtown Bellingham
A new dessert shop will be opening this month in downtown Bellingham in the previous location of JoJo’s Doughnuts.
Love From London, a restaurant serving bubble waffles, milkshakes and treats from the United Kingdom will open at noon Saturday, Feb. 22, according to previous reporting by The Herald.
Love from London is at 1301 Commercial St.
Joann fabrics closing stores
Joann fabric and craft stores across the country will be closing after the company filed for bankruptcy in January, including 21 stores in Washington.
Bellingham’s Joann location is among the nine Washington stores planned to remain open, according to reporting by The Bellingham Herald and court documents obtained by USA Today.
Bellingham’s Joann store is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at 1125 E Sunset Dr. Ste 125.
