Whatcom Roundup: new restaurants coming to Bellingham; Texas Roadhouse update, events

Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail, business and restaurant activity in and around Whatcom County:

New restaurant coming to Bellingham

A new restaurant, The Deep End, has filed building permits and is planning to open in Bellingham. The new restaurant would be at 17 Prospect St., and the permits were approved Nov. 3.

Texas Roadhouse opening in Bellingham

Progress is being made on a Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Whatcom County. The restaurant chain has filed a permit with the city of Bellingham to demolish the current building at 4331 Meridian St., the previous location of The Billy McHale’s Restaurant, in order to build the new restaurant. The permit was filed Nov. 6 and had not yet been approved as of Nov. 16.

Unique new restaurant making progress

A new unique restaurant, Pie Dive Bar, is getting closer to opening in Bellingham. On Oct. 11 the restaurant filed a permit with the city of Bellingham to install new fixtures in the new restaurant. The permit was approved Nov. 3. The restaurant serves a variety of sweet and savory pies, and has a location in Everett.

Gruff Brewing adding a kitchen

Gruff Brewing Co., one of downtown Bellingham’s popular breweries, is building a kitchen to start offering food alongside its house-made beer.

The brewery promises a “fantastic menu” and “other changes” coming soon.
