Here’s a roundup of the latest retail, business and restaurant activity in and around Whatcom County:

New coffee stand plans to open

Mercury Coffee, a drive-thru coffee stand, has filed a building permit to the city of Bellingham in hopes of taking over the previous Big Foot Java coffee stand at 1100 Sunset Drive, in front of Walgreens.

The permit had not been approved as of Friday.

JoJo’s Doughnuts closes permanently

JoJo’s Doughnuts, a beloved shop in downtown Bellingham previously announced its closure on its Facebook page, but now the owner has weighed in on the sad news of yet another downtown business closing its doors.

“Here’s the scoop. I have done what I possibly could and still can’t make this happen. I am heart-broken for all of our relationships we made with our regulars and not being able to reopen. We cleaned out the shop yesterday and it’s final,” a Facebook post confirming the closure reads.
