Bellingham’s August events: concerts, beer gardens, festivals, trivia and more local fun
August is already here as summer continues, and if you’re looking for fun local events you won’t want to miss, we’ve got you covered. Here is a monthly roundup of Bellingham events, trivia nights and live music this month:
Bellingham Events
▪ The Bellingham Farmers Market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday at 1100 Railroad Ave.
▪ The Barkley Market is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays, Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 at 2215 Rimland Drive with vendors, food trucks and live music.
▪ Bellingham Kids Fest, a free event with many activities for all ages including mini golf, face painting, crafts, a Lego fun land, bounce houses, an obstacle course and vendors will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5 at Civic Stadium at 1355 Civic Field Way.
▪ The 3rd annual Fairhaven Funky Bizarre Bazaar is back on Aug. 5 with live music and “creative re-creators, up-cyclers, collectors of the funky and unusual, musicians, writers, and artists,” the event’s website states. The free bazaar will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fairhaven Village Green at 1207 10th St.
▪ The Fairhaven Outdoor Movie Cinema will be playing “A League of Their Own” on Aug. 5, “Field of Dreams” on Aug. 12, “The Princess and the Frog” on Aug. 19 and “The Princess Bride” on Aug. 26. The movies start at 6:30 p.m. and cost $7 per person, or $8 with a credit card. Children 4 and under will be admitted for free, and concessions will also be available for sale. The movies will play at the Fairhaven Village Green park at 1207 10th St.
▪ Downtown Sounds will be having two more outdoor concerts this summer at 6 p.m. on Aug. 2 and 9 in downtown Bellingham. Here’s your full guide to the events.
▪ The Flatstick Pub will host bingo nights at 8 p.m. every Thursday, Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 at 902 N State St.
▪ Beats on the Bay, a concert series that allows listeners to enjoy live music from kayaks, rowboats, paddleboards or the Schooner Zodiac is back at 5 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 29 at The Community Boating Center at 555 Harris Ave. Ticket costs vary depending on the type of boat listeners want to rent and can be purchased online.
▪ The Bellingham Public Library is hosting a children’s craft fair from 5-7 p.m. on Aug. 11 at The Bellis Fair Mall. About 50 local kids will be vendors at the event. All items will be $5 or less, and only cash will be accepted. The Bellis Fair Mall is at 1 Bellis Parkway.
▪ NERD NIGHT: A Commercial Street Block Party will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17. The free event will include circus stylings, pinball, street games, food trucks and face painting, and will be at the 1300 of Commercial St.
▪ The Bellingham Makers Market is hosting a waterfront market from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19. The market will feature a variety of local vendors and is at the Bellingham Waterfront at the corner of Granary and Laurel Avenue near The Portal Container village.

Live music
▪ The Aslan Brewing Co. depot welcomes local artists throughout the month of August, including holding jazz nights on Tuesdays. For the music line up, check the schedule online. Aslan Brewing Co. is at 1322 N. State St.
▪ Kulshan Brewing Company’s various breweries are hosting live music throughout the month of August. For the music line up and locations, check the schedule online.
▪ Boundary Bay Brewery will have live music almost every night during the month of August, from jazz groups to live DJs and classic blues bands. Boundary Bay Brewery is at 1107 Railroad Ave.
▪ Barkley Village is hosting Tuesday Tunes, with live music every Tuesday throughout the summer. The concerts and food trucks will be open from 6-8 p.m. every Tuesday through Aug. 29 at the Village Green at 2215 Rimland Drive.
▪ The Blue Room, a live music and event venue regularly hosts live performers, including jazz nights, local artists, and improv nights. Tickets are available online in advance. The Blue Room is at 202 E. Holly St.
▪ Bar Cicotti, a coffee and wine bar will host jazz nights from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesdays through September. Bar Cicotti is at 202 Grand Ave.
