New restaurant has some old favorites at this downtown Lynden eatery
There’s a new restaurant in Lynden, but it will continue to have some longtime favorites on the menu.
Rustlers Front Street Grill opened on Monday, Feb. 3, at 405 Front St. Kevin and Belinda Seutz took over the former site of Dutch Mothers Family Restaurant at the beginning of the year. They purchased the restaurant from Dave and Debbie Black, who had operated it since 1996. Dutch Mothers first opened in 1982.
The Seutzes have owned the 180-seat Rusty Wagon restaurant near Hinotes Corner on Hannegan Road for 20 years, and they wanted to continue that western theme with Rustlers.
They are keeping some of the menu items that were popular at Dutch Mothers, including the Dutch pancake pannenkoeken, as well as other baked goods. However, they’ve added dishes like flatbread pizza, steaks and tacos.
Kevin Seutz said they originally planned to open shortly after Jan. 1, but decided to take more time with the remodeling.
“We wanted to do it right and create a nice space for people to enjoy,” Kevin Seutz said in a news release.
Restaurant hours are currently 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day, with dinner hours scheduled to start on Tuesday, Feb. 11. Details can be found on the restaurant’s website.
