Event hall completes renovation, while Bellis Fair playground and cafe nearly ready

▪ Fox Hall Events Center has reopened after some significant interior remodeling. The center is at 1661 W. Bakerview Road, next to the Best Western Plus hotel and near the airport.
Recent improvements include a new sound system, new carpet and furnishings. The 3,750-square-foot space can handle approximately 200 people for celebrations that involve meals. The hall comes with a caterer’s kitchen.

▪ Saltadena Bakery is having a grand opening starting Saturday, Dec. 14. The bakery, which is at 111 W. Holly St. near Greenhouse, will have daily deals beginning Tuesday, Dec. 10, up to the grand opening, owner Nancy Stuart said in an email.
At 11 a.m. on Dec. 14 the first 40 customers will get a free Lil Scrappy, which is cake scraps in a cup. There also will be special pricing and raffles. Details can be found on the company’s Facebook page
The bakery opened over the summer after Owner Nancy Stuart spent a couple of years operating it as a home-based business.
▪ PlayDate, a playground and cafe going into the Target wing of Bellis Fair, is getting closer to opening. According to Facebook posts the company is continuing to install equipment and is aiming for an opening date later this month.
▪ Tacos El Tule announced on Facebook that it will debut its new food trailer on Tuesday, Dec. 17. The company had been using a loaned truck at 3548 Meridian St. after its previous truck was destroyed by a fire in August.
▪ Rook & Rogue announced on its website that Sunday, Dec. 8, would be the last day for the business. The board game pub at 206 W. Magnolia St. originally announced it would close at the end of the year, but decided to close earlier. The pub opened in the spring of 2017.
▪ Boomer’s Drive-In announced on its website that the dining room will be closed Dec. 9-11 for some remodeling while it puts in a new floor. The drive-in canopy area will remain open, and to-go orders can still be made at the Samish eatery.
