After starting with a field of 16 restaurants and going through four rounds of voting, the Herald has an answer to the question it has been asking for the past month: What is Bellingham’s favorite place to grab a taco?

With a tight championship round victory, it’s finally time to announce the winner:

Bellingham’s favorite taco restaurant

Mi Rancho Meat Market

3092 Northwest Ave., Bellingham

What to know: Mi Rancho Meat Market is open seven days a week and operates primarily as a butcher shop specializing in authentic cuts of meat and Mexican ingredients.

Everything is made fresh, including the chips and salsa, which are served as you sit down. Not only was Mi Rancho Meat Market voted the best tacos, but it also features some of the cheapest. The restaurant’s traditional street tacos costs just $1 per taco and is served in a fresh corn tortilla with your choice of meat and a garnishing of onions and cilantro.

The three meat options are carne asada (marinated, thinly sliced beef), al pastor (pork marinated with pineapple) or chicken.
