Bellingham restaurants will take you beyond pumpkin spice in your search for fall flavors
Fall is officially here: the air is crisp, the leaves are changing colors and Bellingham’s food and drink menus are changing too. There are so many fall flavors other than pumpkin spice, so let’s dive into places you can grab a festive bite to eat and drink!
Nothing says fall like banana spice cake, rum, pecans, cinnamon and caramel. Bananas foster cake is available by the slice at Pure Bliss Desserts, 1424 Cornwall Ave.
Now on tap at Bellingham Cider Company, 205 Prospect St. Suite 4403, is caramel apple cider! You can wash your cake down with the best of both worlds, as Bellingham Cider Company and Pure Bliss Desserts teamed up to create this flavorful fall cider. They also have a pumpkin spice cider.
Don’t worry, there are plenty of seasonal brews to quench your thirst! One of the many breweries in town, Wander Brewing, 1807 Dean Ave., has everything from a pomegranate tart IPA to their award-winning champagne toast — and new flavors are always added to the list. They conveniently post their flavors on their website and on their Instagram. Go check them out!
Did you know that Starbucks created the pumpkin spice latte in 2003? The Mount Bakery, 308 W. Champion St., is serving up their version of the highly anticipated PSL. If you’re an early bird, but not too early… then order a hazelnut orange twist made from croissant dough and a classic pumpkin spice latte!
With all things sweet you need a little bit of salty, and right now you can try Saltine’s mushroom risotto. It’s a rice dish can’t be rushed, but is cooked to perfection here. The stars of the dish are local chanterelle mushrooms, leeks and loads of Parmesan cheese. Mushrooms thrive in the Pacific Northwest, specifically chanterelles that can be harvested into late fall and sometimes winter. This is something you won’t want to share. Saltine’s at 114 Prospect St.
With plenty of options to choose from and so many more to explore, you won’t be missing out on this season’s fall flavors. Be sure to follow your favorite foodie places on Instagram to see what pumpkin spice-inspired treats they’re serving up.
