Bellingham’s restaurant scene lost these three businesses during December to close out 2024
Bellingham welcomed three new restaurants as two closed in November. Throughout December, however, no new restaurants opened, and three popular eateries closed their doors permanently.
Pepper Sisters
Pepper Sisters, a Southwestern restaurant in downtown Bellingham, announced its permanent closure after 36 years in a social media post Monday, Dec. 30.
The restaurant was listed for sale months ago for $180,000, including the business name, rights, building and equipment.
“Although we were holding out hope that some eager and willing patron would swoop in and want to take over the business, alas, we are closing our doors,” the social media post states.
Earlier this month, Bordertown Mexican Grill, a Mexican restaurant with locations in Blaine and Lynden, announced a new location in Pepper Sister’s location, before Pepper Sisters announced its closure, according to previous reporting.
Pepper Sisters was located at 1055 N State St. in downtown Bellingham.
Twin Sisters Brewing Company
Twin Sisters Brewing Company, a brewery, beer garden and restaurant announced its closure Tuesday, Dec. 31 through a social media post.
“Unfortunately, it is now the time for our story to end. We want to thank everyone who walked through our doors over the years. You helped make Twin Sisters what it was,” the post states.
“As this chapter closes, we are pleased to share that Stemma Brewing Co. will be serving you from this amazing space. Please jump over to their page and give them a follow to stay up to date with their remodel and a grand opening date,” the Facebook post states.
Twin Sisters Brewing Company was at 505 Carolina Ave. in Bellingham.

The espresso stand announced the closure Dec. 2 via social media.

Our last day of operations will be Dec. 15 2024, or until supplies last,” the post states.
