Whatcom Roundup: A new bakery in Ferndale, and Lynden’s Chipotle opening soon

Here’s our weekly roundup of the latest retail and restaurant activity around Whatcom County:

New Ferndale bakery opens

Main Street Bread, a new family-owned bakery in downtown Ferndale, officially opened Monday, Feb. 3. The artisan bakery’s offerings include homemade breads, cinnamon rolls, almond, chocolate and butter croissants, cookies, cakes, pretzels and Rice Krispies treats.

Main Street Bread is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 2054 Main St. in Ferndale, the previous location of Barb’s Pies and Pastries.

Chipotle progress in Lynden

Lynden’s new Chipotle restaurant is planned to open soon, according to a spokesperson from the chain Mexican restaurant.

“We are currently scheduled to open a new location in Lynden this month,” the spokesperson wrote in an email to The Bellingham Herald.

The new location at 8083 Guide Meridian Road will be Whatcom County’s second Chipotle location, following the Bellis Fair mall restaurant at 1 Bellis Fair Way in Bellingham.

Poppy & Pomegranate moving

Flower and gift shop Poppy & Pomegranate is moving out of Fairhaven and into another Bellingham neighborhood. The shop will move after Valentine’s Day, and plans to open its new Silver Beach location in early March.

The new location will be at 601 Northshore Drive, Unit 102.
