Mount Baker’s Soares selected WIAA Athlete of the Week

Mount Baker senior Stephanie Soares was selected as an Athlete of the Week by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association last week.

Soares scored a game-high 18 points, pulled down nine rebounds and had six blocks in the Mountaineers’ season-opening 53-32 win over Nooksack Valley on Nov. 28. She followed that up by helping Mount Baker to a 57-43 win at Meridian on Saturday.

The Mountaineers play at Friday Harbor on Saturday before opening Northwest Conference play Tuesday when they host Blaine.
