This football standout won two state wrestling titles, but won’t play either sport in college
Ferndale’s two-time wrestling state champion Ben Broselle has signed to play rugby at UCLA, according to an email from his father, Tom.
Broselle won the Class 3A 182-pound state title as a junior and backed it up by winning the 195-pound crown in February. Broselle also finished sixth in Whatcom County, rushing for 1,295 yards and 19 touchdowns on 113 attempts (11.5 per attempt) for the Golden Eagles football team last fall. He was selected first-team All-NWC in wrestling and first-team All-Wesco 3A North at running back and linebacker in football.
Rugby is a club sport at UCLA.
