Seahawks fans gathering Friday in Bellingham to create giant 12th Man formation
There’s an effort underway to boost interest in this weekend’s Super Bowl by creating the Pacific Northwest’s largest human No. 12 formation right here in Whatcom County.
The Ultimate 12’s Rally is set for 11:30 a.m. Friday at Civic Stadium, 1355 Civic Field Way in Bellingham. An overhead group photo is planned for 12:12 p.m.
“Let’s show the Hawks and the world how excited we are for them to play in the big game,” the city’s Parks and Recreation Department said in a social media post.
Participants will get a ticket for a chance to win prizes including a recliner from Wilson’s Furniture and a $500 Gift Card from DeWaard & Bode, the event listing states.
The event is being organized by several local radio stations and My Bellingham Now, with the city as a co-sponsor.
For those who’ve managed to avoid the hype surrounding Super Bowl LX, the Seattle Seahawks will be facing the New England Patriots at 3:30 p.m. Sunday on NBC and Peacock.
The idea of the 12th Man refers to the Seahawks’ fans, whose thunderous energy during home games has registered on seismographs and is seen to serve as an extra player for an 11-member football team.
