As Whatcom economy reopens from COVID-19, Airporter Shuttle is ready to restart service

After being shut down nearly three months because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Bellair Airporter Shuttle is ready to restart operations.

The shuttle is scheduled to restart on Sunday, June 21, according to a news release from the company. It’ll start with five round-trips a day along Interstate 5 between Bellingham and Sea-Tac Airport. It will also have two round-trips a day between Yakima and Sea-Tac.

Service to Anacortes will return as travel trends increase, according to the news release. Paine Field trips remain suspended until the airport reopens after a summer of renovations. The Airporter Shuttle temporarily halted operations on March 30.

“As people begin to return to travel, we are excited to be driving for them again,” said Bellair president Richard Johnson in the news release. “Although service is resuming with a limited schedule, I am confident that the schedule will continue to be expanded based on demand, latest CDC guidance, and government travel regulation. We are proud to continue working to provide an environment that allows travelers to ride with confidence and ease.”

The Airporter Shuttle will have a variety of rules in place to prevent the of COVID-19. This includes keeping a minimum of 40% of seats empty. Face masks for passengers are recommended, but not required, according to the company’s website.
