Missing 5-year-old boy is rescued from 40-degree creek by police, Ohio officials say
Police in Ohio saved a 5-year-old missing boy after finding him in a creek.
On Nov. 12, London police officer Dylan Fout was patrolling when he noticed a young boy walking on a sidewalk alone, according to a Nov. 13 Facebook post by the police department.
Fout turned around to check on the boy, but by then he lost sight of him, police said.
Officers began to look for the boy on foot. At the same time, a 911 call came into dispatchers reporting a missing 5-year-old boy with autism, according to the post.
Officers then found the missing boy in a nearby creek with water up to 3 feet and 40 degrees, according to officials.
Police body camera footage shared on the departments Facebook page shows Fout run into the creek and pull the boy out.
The boy was conscious but began vomiting after being pulled out of the water.
The boy was taken to a hospital and later released, officials say. He is expected to be OK.
London is about a 30-mile drive west from Columbus.
