A far cry from its “Eat Mor Chikin” credo, Chick-fil-A is pushing a plant-based entree to help customers eat more veggies.

Chick-fil-A plans to launch a new cauliflower sandwich in select markets starting Monday, Feb. 13, the Atlanta-based chicken chain announced. The entree is a plant-friendly spin on the restaurant’s original chicken sandwich, and will be tested in:

  • Charleston, South Carolina
  • North Carolina’s Greensboro-Triad region

  • Denver, Colorado

Like the classic chicken sandwich, the cauliflower sandwich is “marinated, breaded with a signature seasoning, pressure-cooked, and served on a toasted buttery bun with two dill pickle chips,” according to a news release.

Pricing information wasn’t immediately available.

“We explored every corner of the plant-based space in search of the perfect centerpiece for our plant-forward entrée,” Stuart Tracy, developer of the new sandwich, said in a statement. “Time and time again, we kept returning to cauliflower as the base of our sandwich.”

While vegetarian-friendly, the cauliflower sandwich is not vegan. The restaurant said “milk and eggs are included in the preparation process” and “vegetarian-only” prep surfaces aren’t designated in its kitchens.
