Authorities arrest woman suspected in Everson parking lot hit-and-run incident

A 40-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault after a hit-and-run incident Wednesday in Everson that injured a pedestrian.

Everson police said an 87-year-old woman was struck by a black 2016 Dodge Journey while walking from People’s Bank to her vehicle in the Everson Market parking lot at 12:52 p.m. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with injuries to her hip and ankle.

As of Thursday afternoon, she was in stable condition following surgery.

The alleged driver initially fled the scene, but was found and arrested shortly before noon Thursday. Police said probable cause was established to charge the suspect with vehicular assault, hit-and-run with injury, and driving with a suspended license, though no formal charges have yet been filed.
