Georgia man suspected of flying to Whatcom County to have sex with child
Authorities with the Northwest Washington Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force on Thursday arrested a man suspected of traveling to Washington to have sex with a fictitious underage girl. The case has been referred for federal prosecution in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.
The investigation into Kade Garrett Randall began when he messaged an undercover law enforcement officer who was posing as the father of a girl under the age of 12 in a chatroom, according to court records obtained by The Herald.
The message-sender, later identified as Randall, reached out to the officer on Sept. 30 and asked how young his daughter was. The officer responded a week later after Randall posted links to child sexual abuse material in the chatroom.
Randall continued to message the officer about his interest in the fictitious daughter, court records show, and also emailed the officer multiple times with images and links to child sexual abuse material. The two discussed Randall flying to Washington from Georgia to assault the girl, and Randall eventually travelled to Washington.
Randall and the agent met up Nov. 13 at an unidentified coffee shop in Whatcom County, and Randall was subsequently detained by federal agents. He was booked into Whatcom County Jail and transferred to federal custody the next day.
Randall has been charged with attempted enticement of a minor and distribution of child pornography, both felonies.
