2 Bellingham men arrested in connection with October fatal shooting
Two Bellingham men have been charged with second-degree murder for the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Daytin Duronso-Harp of Bellingham on Oct. 18, Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy said.
Royelio Marquez, 19, and Alan Ramos, 20, were taken into custody on Thursday morning in a coordinated effort between the Bellingham Police Department and Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.
Murphy said BPD officers were called to the 100 block of W. Horton Rd. for a report of shots fired on Oct. 18 at 11:50 p.m. A WCSO deputy driving through the area saw shots being fired near the intersection with Meridian Street, but by the time they turned around to check the area, all people and cars had fled.
Fifteen minutes later, two men arrived at St. Joseph Medical Center with gunshot wounds. Duronso-Harp was pronounced dead at the hospital, Murphy said, and a 25-year-old man was treated and survived. He has since been released from the hospital.
The car the men arrived in had several bullet holes in the side, according to Murphy, and was seized as evidence.
Murphy said probable cause has been established to charge Marquez and Ramos with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder for the shooting of the two men without premeditation. Further charges may be forthcoming, Murphy said.
Marquez and Ramos are being held at Whatcom County Jail without bail.
