Suspect in custody after shooting at Sedro-Woolley park leaves 1 dead, 5 injured
A shooting at a Sedro-Woolley park Saturday left one dead and five others injured.
The deceased person has been identified as 19-year-old Jared Pena-Salgado from Sedro-Woolley, according to Sedro-Woolley Police Chief Dan McIlraith. Those injured include one woman and four men, ranging in age from 20 to 47, McIlraith said.
One suspect has been arrested, and there is currently no known threat to the public, according to a news release from the Sedro-Woolley Police Department. The suspect is being detained at the Skagit County jail.
The shooting occurred around 11:19 p.m. July 5 at Memorial Park at 697 Pacific St., near State Street.
When officers and firefighters arrived at the scene, they began life-saving efforts to those injured, according to the release.
Investigators remained at the scene for hours processing a “significant amount of evidence,” which included the discovery of two firearms, according to police.
